General FAQs
Frequently asked questions relating to general queries about our products.
All of our themes and plugins are licensed under GPLv2 (or later).
The GPLv2 (or later) license lets you use our themes and plugin on as many sites as you wish, but please bear in mind that your purchase (license) entitles you to support on one site. If you wish to avail of support on multiple sites, you’ll need a separate license for each site.
No. Only the domain registered within the Subscriptions section of your Account will have access to automatic updates. For every other site you’d need to update manually. Or, buy individual licences. Each licence enables access to automatic updating from one domain.
You can purchase directly from us using your PayPal account, Visa, MasterCard and AMEX cards.
Our goal is to always be fair and reasonable. Our refund policy isn’t any different: 10-days no questions asked. If you’re unhappy with the theme you bought just drop us a note and we’ll take care of you.
We reply to support tickets on Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm GMT.
WordPress powers 30%+ of all websites on the Internet. Due to its robust features and active development, many of the top sites such as the IBM, Forbes, Reuters and the New York Times use WordPress.
We highly recommend SiteGround – they offer a properly optimized WordPress environment and 24/7 support, all for a reasonable price.
Subscriptions FAQs
Frequently asked questions regarding our product subscriptions.
Yes. Shoptimizer and CommerceGurus Popups are both subscription-based products.
You will need to renew your license yearly in order to continue to access the product zip file and support. Renewing gives you access to updates and support for a further 12 months.
At the checkout step you must confirm that you understand that the product you are purchasing is a subscription-based product. It is impossible for us to setup a subscription without prior consent.
All products from CommerceGurus.com have keys, and an active subscription allows you to access product updates and our support team.
One valid subscription key can be used on one active site and a staging/test/development domain. This allows you to test your product in a live and staging/development environment simultaneously, without the need to swap or activate, deactivate and reactivate.
What is classified as a connected domain?
- Subdomains are NOT classified as separate domains (yay!) – so if you setup your domains like
dev.myshop.com
,staging.myshop.com
andwww.myshop.com
– you will be able to avail of automatic updates for your products on all three instances from the one connected domain myshop.com - Sub-directory sites are NOT separate sites – a key activated for myshop.com would allow to setup your staging/dev versions at
myshop.com/dev/
andmyshop.com/staging/
for example.
To activate a subscription, you need to connect your domain. Once your domain is connected it will also be automatically activated. Your subscription is now active! You will now be able to obtain automatic product updates for that domain.
A subscription is valid for 12 months after purchase.
If auto-renew is enabled (which is the default), your subscription renews on the due date and your card is charged. Email notification and receipt are sent to confirm you paid for another year.
You are sent a renewal reminder email 60, 30, 14, 7 and 2 days prior to the subscription renewal date. You can also find renewal information on the My Subscriptions page. These emails are also sent if auto-renew is disabled.
Subscriptions are billed annually at 100% of the purchase price.
Renewing your subscription entitles you to support and automatic updates to your product for a further 12 months from the date of renewal. This ensures compatibility with newer versions of WordPress and WooCommerce, as well as bug fixes and new features and enhancements to the product.
If your subscription expires you will no longer be able to download product updates or receive support. You may still continue to use the version of the product you last downloaded before your subscription expired.
Within the Subscriptions section of My Account, there’s a toggle where you can turn off automatic renewals.
When it is switched off, you won’t have access to one-click automatic updates. Only active subscriptions have this feature. You can still update the theme or plugin manually.
To transfer your subscription simply deactivate and delete the domain you no longer wish to use and enter the replacement domain in its place. You can do that within the subscription section of your CommerceGurus account.
Remember not to include the https or www part when entering a domain.
No. Subscriptions are not transferable across accounts at this time.
When you purchase a product subscription we generate a unique license for your product subscription. You’re probably used to getting license keys for digital products already and having to enter them somewhere to activate your product.
Our domain activation method means you’ll never need to enter your key anywhere to activate your subscription. But, there may be occasions where a member of our support team ask you to confirm your product license key when you submit support questions. That’s all you’ll ever need this key for at this time.
Auto renew is enabled by default. You can review your renewal settings by visiting the My Subscriptions page in your account.
To disable automatic renewals for a product, visit the My Subscriptions page and toggle auto-renewal off from the right side of the listing.
Disabling auto-renew is also a way to pay “manually.” Enter a credit card to enable auto-renew, allow payment to be taken on the due date, and then disable auto-renew.
Not at present. Let us know if this would be something you would be interested in instead of yearly renewals.
