WordPress 4.0 was released a short while ago. After extensive testing on our development servers we’re glad to be able to confirm that CommerceGurus customers who have purchased our Captiva WooCommerce theme can safely upgrade to WordPress 4.0.
WordPress 4.0 ‘Benny’ (named after the king of swing Benny Goodman) hits the streets today after 6 months of intensive development. Many feel it’s an underwhelming release. I disagree. I think it’s clearly a very focused release in terms of new feature additions. Sarah over at the tavern does a great job introducing the new stuff.

[wpvideo bUdzKMro]For me, the improvements to the page/post editing UI are stellar. For years now it’s been a real pain to write long form posts in the WordPress editor when the scrollbar would disappear out of sight and then would play a game of cat and mouse to try and bring it back into view without losing the inner scroll in your content area.
The level of polish added to the user experience of the media library is also stunning.
There’s always a big concern for theme and plugin developers that their work will break with a major new WordPress release. We spent a lot of time today giving Captiva and all it’s dependencies like WooCommerce, Visual Composer etc. a serious test on 4.0. I’m glad to report everything is working correctly. If you spot any issues be sure to contact us on [email protected]
So get updating and enjoy Benny!
